Dwayne “Freight Train” Kress began cycling at an early age in the 70’s when he first pushed off from the curb aboard his bike with recently removed training wheels. His neighborhood rapidly began to grow with his spirit for adventure and yet he was always home in time for dinner. Decades full of adventure were spent riding bikes ranging from Banana Seat Clunkers to BMX, Road Bikes and Mountain Bikes. Racing soon took over and experiences were had on the Provincial, National and International levels racing Cross Country World Cups to International Stage Races. If it had wheels, Dwayne raced it. Not a particularly gifted climber but a steady diesel engine that was developed through years of rides ranging from 3 to 300kms in a day, as many days as possible.
Dwayne still enjoys mixing it up in XC and XCM events while continuing with his race creator and organizer duties for the Sp’akw’us Events Mountain Bikes Races. Over 30 years of riding, racing, race organizing and being home in time for dinner is how Freight Train rolls.
